Hello parents,
Your children have been impressing me with their recorder playing abilities! They are ready to learn a new note, E. This note is a bit more difficult because they have to use their right hand as well as their left hand! Here are two visuals to help your child learn this new note.

When I teach this to the students, I usually ask them to show me how to play a G, put a peace sign up in the air, and put those two fingers on the next two holes on the recorder. This may take some practice, especially becoming comfortable with making sure their fingers are covering the holes and not searching around on the recorder for the holes.
Once the students are taught this note, we will start working on It's Raining. In my opinion, this is one of the hardest pieces in the book. It is repetitive, but changes when it repeats, so that makes it hard to learn. We will be working on this song for a long time, but it will be very rewarding once they get those green bests hanging off of their recorders!
