Hello parents,
Since we spent the entire month of January learning about the songs for the Cape Ann Symphony Youth Concert, the ukuleles were set aside. This week we will be focusing on a review of the three chords they know (C, F, G), and changing between the C chord and the G chord, which can be quite tricky. Once they are comfortable with this transition, they will be practicing the chord changes for This Land is Your Land. The chord changes are as follows:
F / / / C / / / G / / / C / / /
This chord change tells the students that they need to play the F chord four times, the C chord four times, the G chord four times, and the C chord again four times. They then repeat this for the entirety of the song.
When the students have mastered playing and singing along with This Land is Your Land, they will be practicing a new chord change for The Lion Sleeps Tonight, which is:
C / / / F / / / C / / / G / / /
This is very similar to the chord change for This Land is Your Land, which will help the students feel comfortable with it.
I hope your children are as excited about learning ukulele as I am!
