Hello parents,
Your children have been doing a fantastic job learning how to play the ukuleles. This week I will be teaching them how to play a new chord, A minor (commonly written as Am). The Am chord is very similar to the F chord, with one small difference. The chord looks like this:

This chord will be learned in a matter of minutes, then the students will start working on a new chord change, incorporating the new Am chord:
Am / G / C / / /
This chord change tells them to play Am for two strums, G for two strums, and C for four strums. As the chord is so similar to F and they already know how to switch between these chords and F, I expect this to be learned quite quickly.
Once they have learned this chord change, I will introduce the song that goes along with it: Riptide by Vance Joy. The students all know and love this song, so it is very exciting for them to finally be playing it. It will take a few classes to be able to play the whole song, but I know they will learn it all soon.
