Third grade is a very exciting year in music class, as the students are learning how to play recorders. We use a very motivating method called Recorder Karate.
First graders will continue in the same style of the kindergarten, learning to be tuneful, beatful, and artful. They work on using their singing voice, keeping a steady beat, and learning how to say and play simple rhythms.
The fourth graders learn about many things, including The Star Spangled Banner, The Nutcracker, instruments of the orchestra, and they continue learning how to read music. They will also be visiting the Cape Ann Symphony.
Fourth graders also learn how to play ukulele.
The main focus of second grade is learning how to speak, play, read, and write simple rhythms, and learning about the instruments of the orchestra.
Fifth grade students start writing their own music, sing canons, have ballroom dancing lessons for the Mad Hot Ball, and will be visiting the Cape Ann Symphony.
